Loading the Truck and a Quick Trip to Lander
I slept in until about 8:00 AM. Connie had coffee ready. Sweet. I read for a bit and then cooked some bacon and scrambled eggs for breakfast tacos.
Jonna drove past as we were eating breakfast. Another seasonal volunteer on the way out. She mostly worked in the gift shop and was a presence.
Today is supposed to be the last nice day before we leave. The temperature was in the upper 50s, the wind was light, and we had light intermittent showers. We took advantage of the weather. Connie did one last load of laundry here. I emptied the bed of the truck, rinsed it out- we still had a ton of red dust in there from our drive through Red Canyon a couple of months ago. After the truck bed dried, I put things back in and then stowed a few of the larger items we had stored in a nearby garage. I also cleaned, lightly, the smoker and grill and put them in the truck. We have just a few final items to put into the truck and we will be ready to roll.
I drove into Lander to buy a few items to hold us over until Wednesday or Thursday when we will leave South Pass City and then stay in Lander for a couple of days.
Connie heated up some goulash for dinner and I just pieced on a few things.
Cleaning and loading the truck had gone smoothly and quickly. We have food for the next several days. Nothing to do bu read and do some research. It seems so odd to think that after our "days off" this week, we have no scheduled responsibilities. It almost like being retired.
