Cat Creek RV Park and Our Last Night on the Road
We got up a bit leisurely today. We had coffee, breakfast, and a rarity on travel days- a second cup of coffee for the road. Check-out time is10:30 AM and we have a short travel day. We left around 10:30 and headed for Springfield, Colorado, our stop for tonight.
Traffic today was again very light so the drive went quickly. However, there was more traffic after we passed Lamar, where started encountering truck traffic from I-70 that was heading south.
We got into Springfield before 1:00 and soon afterwards had camp set up. We are spending the evening at the Cat Creek RV Park and Event Center. It is a simple park with full hook-ups for $40 per night, so we commonly stop here. We we one of four or five campers here. Two or three appear to be long-term stays, having skirting around their trailers.
We relaxed and read during the afternoon and evening and made ready for the big day tomorrow.
Tomorrow is a longer drive day. We will leave a bit early and, with the time change, should be home before 2:00 PM. By 5:00, with luck, the trailer and the truck will be empty, and we will be off to a celebratory dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.
On today's drive, we saw a number of prairie dogs, a red-tailed hawk, and a coyote- the first I have seen in some time.
Seven-hundred twenty-seven miles down, 295 miles to go.
