A Quick Trip to Rock Springs to Get Tuned Up. And Antelopes!

Well, this has nothing to do with today, but I have been trying to take photographs around town from unique perspectives and in different lighting conditions. I really like this one!

I didn't sleep well last night. An occupational hazard for my demographic. But, we got up, had breakfast and coffee, and headed for Rock Springs to get out truck serviced. (It is still under warranty, so I go to a dealership so there is a record.)

Rock Springs is about 90 minutes away. So, off we went. We followed, for a while, the route we drove with Glen on Saturday. Then, we turned off into the desert. Today, we drove on.

Driving into Farson, we saw 144 pronghorn antelope. Well, as best I can count them going 70 mph. They were well off the road- hunting season and all- so I am sure my count is low. Going

We arrived at Brower Brothers Nissan a bit before 10, our appointment. I read, Connie went walkabout- to Walmart to Walgreens. What's with all the wall stuff? Anyway, I am happy to recommend this dealership to those on the road looking for a Nissan dealership.

All done and we were off to Smiths, the larger local food chain, to buy groceries. I scored a marked down pork loin that we will eat for days. Of course, we bought other items, including a chicken that I will smoke tomorrow. I love chicken, but this bird is destined to become the back drop for a chicken tortilla soup- the smokiness is fantastic.

On the way out of town I gassed up: $4.25 per gallon at a Gulf station. This was the lowest price I have paid in months. I'll take it.

On the return trip we saw only 137 pronghorn antelope. I am sure some were among those we saw earlier in the day. But, many of the pronghorn we saw were lying on the ground- they like to rest. This, of course, makes them more difficult to see and count, so I suspect the actual number was a little greater at this time.

We got back into the trailer as it was beginning to rain. Again. On and off all day. I carved up the pork loin into "chops" for later this week. I cubed a couple of pounds for a Hungarian goulash for dinner tonight (and tomorrow). For the record, this was not a hamburger, pasta, etc., American version. Rather, a paprika rich, pork stew. With jalapenos, because. Well, jalapenos. I suspect it will warm a person up on a cool, rainy day.

Most of the afternoon has been chilly enough that we have run our small space heater. Unseasonably cool, but a nice change on a day off.

Dinner is still a hour away, but it is Island Time, so I will attend to the margaritas. (And then work on ghost stories for Friday.)

For fun, I looked at my blog stats this evening. There are not a crazy number of views, but enough to suggest that more than bots are looking at the site. Very cool. But I mention this only because there is a tab I can look at to see my "Revenue." For a blog like this it would be those annoying bullshit popups all over the place. Well, enjoy a popup free space and the knowledge that someone didn't try to make a minuscule amount of $$ off of you.
