Grocery Shopping and Smoking Foods for Weekend Meals
Connie slept in until a little after 7:00 this morning. It cooling off nicely before we went to bed last night, so we turned off our fan. The trailer was chilly this morning and our temperature gauge says the morning low outside was 34F.
We ate breakfast and drove into Lander for a few groceries. On the way to Lander, we watched for wildlife, but saw nothing until we dropped down into the Lander Valley. There we saw a mule deer and about 10 pronghorn antelope on an irrigated field.
At the store, I bought some hamburger for lunches over the weekend- they are easy to carry for "work" lunches on the days we volunteer. I smoked the burgers and Connie mixed up frittatas for breakfasts over the weekend and then I smoked them as well.
We had the last of our smoked salmon for dinner, along with corn on the cob, and coleslaw. After dinner, I did a little writing and reading and then decided to drive over to the Miner's Grubstake to have a glass of wine while Connie and I read. We saw two mule deer on the way to Atlantic City and one pronghorn antelope on the way back.
Yesterday was on the cool side and was today.
