Louis Lake: Two Trout and Two Moose
We had made our weekend frittatas yesterday afternoon with the thought of having some of it for breakfast today and then heading out early to fish Louis Lake. We reached the lake a little before 7:30. It was another slow day of fishing. We caught one splake and one rainbow trout in four hours and decided that was enough of that. We did see two moose and an osprey that made at least one dive on the lake while we were fishing, I couldn’t tell if the osprey had been successful, but it flew off, a bit labored, into the pines across the lake. While fishing, we kept hearing a songbird, finally, I investigated and found a white-crowned sparrow.
After getting back to the trailer, I started to smoke a pork loin and then ran back into Lander to pick up a few things that Connie needed for the pecan pies she is baking.
Connie baked two pies today and will bake two more tomorrow for the Gold Rush Days bake sale.
We ate dinner- smoked pork loin, smoked corn on the cob, and salad. I had a couple of margaritas and read for a while before bed.
After dinner, we sat outside and watched the rufous hummingbirds at our feeder and we did a bit of reading.
