A slow Sunday in the Saloon

This morning Gator and I met at 8 AM and loaded up sarsaparilla for the Miner’s Exchange Saloon. We returned to the office and I then worked in the archives until noon. I walked over to the saloon at noon and opened it up.

Today was a weird day. Fifty-two people visited the saloon, but quite a few either walked straight through the saloon without stopping or, really, even looking around. Several more walked up to the door, looked in, and then walked away. So the day was a lot less busy than it might actually seemed by the number of visitors. Five dogs came in today and I sold 17 sarsaparilla.

Connie came by at about 4:00 to help close the saloon and carry sarsaparilla back to the shop. I heard her ranger, but it stopped a way off. I walked outside and watched as she helped an 60-something year-old woman off the bridge and into the ranger. She returned about 10 minutes later after dropping the woman off in the parking lot. Over exertion and the heat. Well, this, I guess, is better than cleaning up vomit like yesterday.

We walked to the trailer, had dinner, and relaxed for the evening and read for a while.
