A quiet day in the Saloon
We started off the morning with our weekly staff meeting, which covered a few routine items and then there was discussion of Gold Rush Days next week. After the meeting, Gator and I loaded up sarsaparilla for the Miner’s Exchange Saloon. I then worked in the archives until noon and then opened the Saloon. It was a slow day, with the first visitor coming by at 1:30. I usually take my computer with me when I work the Saloon and on days like today, I can get a fair amount of work done- today it was mostly sorting through and revising my Walter Lovejoy timeline.
All told, I had 12 visitors, two were walk-throughs, people that just walk in one door and out the other, hardly breaking stride. Two dogs also visited the saloon.
Among today's visitors were a couple from Rock Springs, who were interested in exploring the area a bit more. I suggested they might look at the road that takes you across the real South Pass, along the route followed by the Oregon, California, and Mormon trails, down to the Flick and Halter ranch, and Pacific Springs. They have a four-wheel drive vehicle and should be able to make the drive easily.
I sold seven sarsaparillas.
We had dinner and sat outside and read for a bit, while watching the hummingbirds.
