4th of July in the Saloon(s)

Homemade image, just for fun!

Another day in the life. Gator and I met up at 8:00 and took sarsaparilla over to the Miner's Exchange Saloon. After we returned, I worked in the archives until noon, and then opened the saloon.

It was another slow day and I was able to work most of the morning. John Mionczynski came into the saloon a little after 12:30 and played piano from 12:45 until 2:15 or so, and then we chatted for about 30 minutes.

I was surprised his music did not draw more people in, but the town was slow today. Connie came by at 4:00 and we loaded things up and closed the saloon. There were 19 visitors and three dogs today. I sold nine bottles of sarsaparilla.

On the ride in from the saloon, Connie told me she had had the opportunity to clean up someone's vomit. Come on! If you can't handle the heat...

Anyway... Back to the trailer for dinner and then, around 6:00 we went over to the Rock Shop. We started off inside, but were Texas Dan and others were outside, so out we went. Festivities happening- Anthony had a few guys minding a donation-based shrimp boils so we had a few shrimp. A couple of guys were grilling ribs and, evidently an elk back strap, of which we were offered a bite. Pretty tasty. A few beers, a lot of conversation, and we headed back to the trailer and bed. No fireworks, but it was a nice 4th.
